Here are a few tips on how to set your fundraising goals and reach them in no time.

An important aspect of fundraising is setting reachable goals for your fundraiser. If you set high, unattainable goals, you are essentially setting yourself up for disappointment and will end the fundraising event on a sour note. Setting reachable goals however, adds a boost to moral once it is reached and increases everyone’s drive to further pass the goals set. Reachable fundraising goals are important to have, however setting them can be the tough part. Here are a few tips on how to set your fundraising goals and reach them in no time.

Set a Timeline

Constructing a timeline to reach your fundraising goals by is an important part of fundraising. It helps with formulating a strategy on how to raise the money in time and when and how to allocate what resources to getting the job done. Doing this also tracks the progress you are making with your fundraiser, and you will know how much more work you may or may not need to put forth to attain your goal. Additionally, if there is no timeline at all, it provides people with the proper motivation to reach the goals the fundraising goals in time.  The last thing you will want to do is set a fundraising goal that is impossible to reach during your timeline.

Keep Expenses in Mind

Part of the challenge with setting reachable fundraising goals is keeping in mind the old saying, “you have to spend money to make money.” When fundraising, you are bound to have a few expenditures. So, when determining what your fundraising goal is, keep in mind too how much money you need to raise to offset the costs as well. This will also help you make sure that you do not spend so much money that it is impossible to raise a positive amount of money for your cause.

Be Specific

When trying to set reasonable fundraising goals, it is important to be clear and specific. Do not simply generalize what your fundraising goals are with a simple statement like “we want to raise more than last year”, because that can be done by only raising an additional penny. Come up with a concrete number that is higher than last year’s that you know you can reach, and hopefully even surpass.
